India Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar says the vandalism of a Hindu temple in Canada was deeply concerning.
BBC News says violence broke out at the temple in Brampton on Sunday and local police say three people have so far been arrested and charged.
On X, formerly Twitter, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Sunday’s violence was “unacceptable.”
BBC News adds that ties between India and Canada have soured since Canada accused India of being behind the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a naturalised Canadian citizen labelled a terrorist in India.
India has denied this and other allegations and maintained that Canada has provided no evidence to support its claims.
