Hurricane Beryl: All-clear given in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman

An all-clear has been given for Cayman Brac and Little Cayman following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

However, the Cayman Islands government is making reiterating that the all-clear is not for Grand Cayman where a stay-in-place advisory is in effect as it remains under a Hurricane Warning.

Cayman Islands Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly told a media conference this morning that initial assessment reports for Cayman Brac and Little Cayman show less impact than was forecast.

There was minimal damage despite some breaches of road and intermittent disruption of power and water services.

For Grand Cayman dangerous conditions were still in the forecast as the hurricane made its way out of the region.

The core of Beryl moves away from the Cayman Islands through this afternoon and moves over the Yucatan Peninsula early on Friday.

It is expected to emerge over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Friday night and move northwestward across the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday.
