HISTORIC: Nadra Dwarika-Baptiste appointed CCC manager for Cricket West Indies Championship

Nadra Dwarika-Baptiste has been appointed Manager of the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) team for the T&T leg of the Cricket West Indies 4-Day Regional Championship 2024.

This marks the first time in the 159- year history of West Indies first-class cricket, that a woman has been appointed manager of a men’s team.

Mrs. Dwarika-Baptiste is an administrative assistant at the St. Augustine Academy of Sport, Faculty of Sport at UWI St. Augustine.

With an MSc. and BSc. to her credit, her qualifications extend beyond administrative roles, as she holds a CWI Level I coaching accreditation and is a fully qualified national cricket umpire.

She also serves as the Manager of The UWI Women’s Cricket Club, and the T&T Under-19 Women’s Team.

Reflecting on the appointment, Mrs. Dwarika-Baptiste stated, “It is absolutely thrilling to be the first female to hold the position, but I definitely look forward to not being last. The horizon is expanding for women in sport with significant opportunity to forge a career path. I am very proud as a staff member of The UWI whose core values includes Gender Justice to achieve this milestone.”
