Both the TTPS and Prison Authorities have confirmed that several prohibited items have been seized at the Golden Grove Maximum Security Prison.

The items include a 9mm pistol and ammunition, seven cell phones and 10 improvised weapons, which were seized during a joint inter-agency operation on April 2nd.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Acting Prisons Commissioner Carlos Corraspe said there remains concern regarding the presence of dangerous items within the prison.

However, he expressed satisfaction that the operation revealed the prohibited items, adding that the safety of Prison Officers on and off the job remains an important priority for the Prison Executive.
