Guard rails for north-south highway

Guard rails are expected to be installed along 26.2 kilometres of the north-south highway instead of the current cable barriers.

According to a report by Guardian Media, Works Minister Rohan Sinanan says contracts have been awarded for this replacement.

The Minister previously stated that the metal rails are better for crash protection and lower life-cycle costs.

The calls for better barriers follow several road accidents, the latest resulting in the death of two men on August 5th.
