German backpacker Tilo Kruse reached as far as Cumana on Day 1 of his attempt to walk across Trinidad, from Toco to Icacos.

Kruse, who goes by ‘thepilgrimageoflife’ on social media, is making the journey without any cash, relying instead on strangers he meets along the way.

According to a recap shared this evening, several passers-by helped with water and cash.

Upon reaching Cumana, he found a church where he was allowed to spend the night.
