One El Carmen family has reached out to authorities for shelter accommodation following widespread flooding in the area.
103.1FM News spoke a short while ago with Richard Rampersad, councillor for St Augustine South/Piarco, who said he received the request this morning and was working on arrangements.
He adds that there has been one report of floodwater entering a home in El Carmen, and a handful of similar reports in parts of Piarco.
At this time, several roads across the district remain flooded, including parts of Madras Road.
With regard to Caroni Village, Mr Rampersad said while there are reports of street flooding, there have been no incidents yet of homes being inundated.
He says there have also not been any reports thus far of breaches in the Caroni River embankment in this area or in La Paille Village.
The councillor is hoping for an improvement in weather conditions as the day progresses, as it will bring reprieve to the affected areas.
