Employee at THA Chief Secretary’s office held with illegal items

A 30-year-old employee at the THA Chief Secretary’s Office was detained yesterday in connection with illegal trafficking activities.

Around 6:13pm, officers were on mobile patrol along Joefield Trace, Lambeau, when they spotted a heavily tinted Mitsubishi Lancer driving suspiciously.

The vehicle was intercepted and found to contain a “troubling array” of illegal items including: a Glock pistol,15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 613 grams of cannabis, 97 ecstasy pills, $410 TTD, $14 USD, $100 EC, two shortwave radios, a vacuum sealer, a ski mask, several transparent packets, a digital scale and 27 Digicel SIM cards.

The vehicle’s sole occupant did not have a driver’s permit and was not the vehicle’s registered owner.

He was arrested on the spot and taken, along with the vehicle and the seized items, to the Scarborough Police Station for further processing.

The TTPS says authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the trafficking operation and its connections.
