Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh says he has no hope after the first 20 days in office by Minister in the National Security Ministry, Keith Scotland.
Mr Indarsingh says, since Mr Scotland took up office, there have been a number of incidents of violence in his constituency, including three in the past week.
He notes that a married elderly couple were robbed and beaten, and another family was robbed of cash in separate home invasions and a senior citizen was robbed of cash and jewellery.
The MP says in addition six people were shot and killed by police, allegedly after a robbery in the Freeport area.
Across in Tobago, Mr Indarsingh says crime has not abated with a robbery in Lowlands Mall yesterday in which, according to CCTV footage, persons were beaten by the bandits.
