As Monday’s General Election approaches, Chairman of the Council for Responsible Political Behaviour, Dr Bishnu Ragoonath, says it has been a generally successful and responsible campaign season.

Despite this, he has noted many lapses on the campaign trail, adding that these need to be urgently addressed by party leaders.

Dr Ragoonath spoke to 103.1FM News today.

Dr Ragoonath said it was the role and responsibility of party leaders to encourage responsible campaigning and correct breaches to proper behaviour.

When asked about his election projections, he said he is hoping for a peaceful election day and reminded that everyone has to live together after the polls are over.
