CEPEP awards S.E.A Bursaries to 6 students

The CEPEP Company has awarded six bursaries to the children of CEPEP contractors’ workers.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Gabriel Charles who is attending Queen’s Royal College
  • Ruth Robley who is attending Moruga Secondary School
  • Karena Shade who is attending Bishop Anstey High School
  • Latoya De Verteuil who is attending Northeastern College
  • Natalia Davis who is attending Couva East Secondary School
  • Anika John who is attending Marabella North Secondary School

This is the second group of students to receive the bursary after writing the S.E.A. Exam.

To qualify, a parent must be currently employed by a CEPEP contractor, and the student would have had to attain excellent results in their exam.

One recipient was selected from each region in which CEPEP operates.

The bursary will be accessible to them for the five years of their secondary education, providing that they maintain their academic standing.

A distribution ceremony was held at CEPEP’s head office in Ste Madeleine this morning.

During this time, CEPEP Chairman Joel Edwards explained that the programme is a developmental initiative for children who will go on to become highly productive members of society.

Also addressing the students was CEPEP CEO Keith Eddy who encouraged them to balance academics with extracurricular activities as it would help to enhance their socialization skills and build friendships.
