Meta has announced a few celebrity voice options for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot.

They are: Dame Judi Dench, John Cena, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key and Kristen Bell.

Meta will be hoping this use of celebrity chatbots goes better than its last attempt.

In September 2023, it debuted what it called AI chatbots with “personality”, based on celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Snoop Dogg.

The plug was pulled less than a year later.

The new foray into celebrity chatbots was announced by Meta’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg during the company’s annual Connect conference.

The AI chatbots can answer customer questions instantly, qualify leads, and even process orders directly within DMs.

Other new offerings for the chatbot include it being able to recognise things users photograph, and give them information about them.

Meta says more than 400 million people were now using Meta AI a month, with 185 million of them returning to it every week.
