Argentina is set to withdraw from the World Health Organisation.
Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni cited deep differences regarding the WHO’s management of health issues, notably the COVID-19 pandemic.
He noted WHO had no authority to authorize specific health actions, adding Argentina will not allow an international organization to intervene in its sovereignty and “much less in our health.”
AP News indicated the loss of another member country, fractures global health cooperation and the agency’s estimated $6.9 billion 2024-2025 budget.
