8,000lbs of cocaine found near Guyana/Venezuela border

Guyana authorities say they have seized more than 8,000 pounds of cocaine in the jungle near the border with Venezuela.

AP News says Sunday’s seizure is considered the biggest in recent history.

It reports that Security Minister Robeson Benn estimated the cost of the drugs to be at least $200 million.

Police arrested one suspect and said they are looking for two more who fled the scene.
