Six people were stabbed to death at a busy Sydney shopping center on Saturday.
The suspect, a 40-year-old man, has since been fatally shot by a police officer.
Associated Press says eight people were also injured, including a 9–month–old baby.
The afternoon attack took place at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Bondi Junction, in the city’s eastern suburbs.
Police says they were not able to name the anttcker until a formal identification had been made, adding that they weren’t currently treating the attack as terrorism–related.
As the attack unfolded, panicked persons streamed out of the shopping center, which was put on lockdown.
Video footage shared online also appears to show a man confronting the attacker on an escalator in a bid to stop the rampage.
