29 persons have been shot and killed by police so far this year, just one less than all of 2023.

According to a Guardian Media report, the Police Complaints Authority says May 2024 had nine police involved fatalities – the highest monthly total.

So far for August, there have been five.

The latest police involved shooting took place on Sunday in Caroni, where three persons, ages 16 to 21, were killed.

Police reportedly claim the occupants opened fire on them, however their families are denying this.
