The TTPS believes gang activity is to blame for this morning’s shooting in which a child was wounded and two men killed.

Around 8:10am, there were reports that two suspects opened fire near a pre-school in an area known as Johnny Basement, in Upper 7th Avenue, Malick.

Gerald Calliste of Seventh Avenue, Barataria died at the scene.

Kemo Calliste reportedly ran onto the pre-school’s compound, and later died at hospital.

The wounded include a four-year-old boy and two adults, all of whom are said to be stable.

Senior Superintendent Mervyn Edwards of the North Eastern Division says investigations into the gang link are underway, with support to also be provided to those at the school.
