Police have arrested a robbery suspect after a chase through Port of Spain.

Around 10:30pm on November 29th, 2023, officers on mobile patrol along Independence Square were approached by a man who said he was the victim of a robbery which was still in progress.

Police say the man was allegedly robbed of a cell phone and $320 cash at his Pleasantville home around 9pm, before being forcibly taken to an ATM at Independence Square to withdraw more money.

It was at this time that he spotted the officers and alerted them to the unfolding situation.

A silver Nissan Wingroad sped off and, after a chase, the car was intercepted by police along Wrightson Road and a 41-year-old San Fernando man was arrested.
