Economist Dr Vaalmikki Arjoon believes it is not too soon for the Government to hit the ground running to fulfil election promises.

Speaking with 103.1FM News this afternoon, he said the economy is in a fragile fiscal position, with an urgent need for better practices to improve the country’s fiscal credibility.

Dr Arjoon is hoping to see greater opportunities to foster more economic development and fiscal credibility.

He added however that the deficit continues to stress the country’s debt burden and said it will be in the interest of the government to bring it under control.

As for projections in tomorrow’s mid-year budget review, Dr Arjoon expects the Finance Minister to address several pertinent issues.
