UWI St Augustine has officially rededicated the former Evening University building as The UWI Child Learning and Discovery Facility.
The newly purposed space is aimed at supporting working parents and foster early childhood development.
The re-dedication ceremony took place on June 13th 2025.
The facility will serve two initiatives: the After-School Care Programme for staff and the future UWI St Augustine Preschool.
The University says the After School Care Service, was born out of a need to look after the well-being of the UWI family.
The space has been redesigned to offer safe, affordable and high-quality care for the children of Campus employees, delivered by trained professionals in an engaging environment.
Its services will be further expanded with the addition of The UWI St Augustine Preschool and an upcoming vacation camp.
The camp, for children aged 4 to 12, will run from July 14th to 31st 2025 and feature language immersion (Spanish/French), music and dance classes, indoor and outdoor play, nutritious meals, two field trips, and a closing celebration.
The cost will be $2,000 with limited spaces available.
The University says key to the project’s success was support from Republic Bank Limited.
