In the wake of the escalating situation involving Iran and Israel, the Foreign Affairs Ministry is advising T&T nationals to be vigilant if residing in or traveling through the affected region.
The conflict began when Israel last week launched an assault on Iran that it insists was necessary for its own security.
Since then, both sides have been conducting military strikes on each other’s territories.
The Ministry says nationals in the region should take certain precautionary actions such as:
- Remaining vigilant and staying informed by monitoring credible news sources and official advisories
- Registering promptly with the Ministry’s Registration System for Nationals Abroad
- Ensuring that all travel documents are valid and up to date
- Complying fully with safety and security directives issued by local authorities
- Ascertaining the location of the nearest emergency shelter in the event of intensifying hostilities
- Formulating contingency plans for departure, particularly where personal safety may be at risk. It reminds that when making travel plans, persons should remember that those holding T&T passports are required to obtain a visa for transit through or entry into the United Kingdom.
For further information or consular support, nationals are invited to contact the Ministry at consular@foreign.gov.tt.
