TTTI calls on new Govt to work on campaign finance reform, other key issues

The T&T Transparency Institute is calling on the incoming Government to prioritise critical reforms to help restore public trust and modernise T&T’s governance framework.

Among them is campaign finance reform, which the TTTI says is urgently needed to ensure transparency and accountability in political financing.

It is also calling on the government to re-engage with the Open Government Partnership, which is a platform to deepen democratic participation, combat corruption, and leverage digital tools for more responsive governance.

It says re-joining and actively participating in the OGP would signal a strong commitment to openness and accountability.

Finally, the TTTI wants to see further refinement and full implementation of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act, and proclamation of the whistleblower legislation which has already been passed and assented to.
