Jamaica’s Met Service says Tropical Storm Rafael has started to move away from the island.
However, it is reminding citizens that a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect as tropical storm conditions are still expected today.
So far, Rafael has dumped rainfall amounts of over 75 millimetres (3 inches) across Jamaica leading to flooding primarily in sections of southern parishes.
Rafael is expected to be near or over the Cayman Islands tonight and be near or over western Cuba on Wednesday.
The storm is forecast to become a hurricane near the Cayman Islands and further strengthen before it makes landfall in Cuba.
