A suspected bandit was held by police today, despite attempting to evade capture by disguising himself as a priest.
The Archdiocese of Port of Spain says around 10am, the suspect was fleeing from officers when he crashed into a police vehicle at the intersection of Park and Henry streets in Port of Spain.
The man ran into the nearby Holy Rosary Church, where he accessed and put on a priest’s tunic.
Despite this, he was apprehended by an officer who also reportedly recovered cash and other stolen items.
It ended the statement saying, “The Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain continues to pray for the crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago. We ask the intercession of Our Lady of the Assumption; pray for us.”
