A housing developer has been granted $250,000 bail after being charged with fraud.
Persons told police that they entered into an agreement to buy houses in Cunupia and allegedly made down payments and obtained mortgage facilities from financial institutions.
The developer then produced documents to the financial institutions and funds were dispersed to him, before it was discovered that the documents were fraudulent.
Following investigations, police arrested Mahindra Boodram who has been charged with uttering forged documents and obtaining the sums of $1.647 million and $1.665 million by virtue of forged documents.
The matter has been postponed to October 15th, 2025 and as part of his bail conditions, he must report to a police station on the first Saturday of each month.
