WASA: Repairs on leaking Caroni line completed

Repairs on a leaking pipeline were completed at 2:30am today, according to WASA.

The emergency repairs led to a delay in the restoration of water supply to persons served by the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.

The leak occurred in the vicinity of a newly installed valve during the shutdown of the Caroni plant over the weekend.

In its latest update, WASA says operations along the Caroni North Transmission System are gradually being restored to normal capacity.

It says supply is expected to normalize over a 24 to 48-hour period and during the “re-energizing” of the system, there may be discolouration of the water supply.

WASA advises that persons should allow their water to run until it clears.
