The Opposition is criticizing government over its handling of a matter involving the Auditor General.
According to reports, government in Parliament claimed they were unsuccessful in delivering “corrective material” after it notified the Auditor General about an error in the audit of government accounts.
The error, according to the Finance Minister, was an understatement of revenue in the sum of $2.6 billion which caused issues in processing tax refunds with a new electronic system.
The Auditor General has reportedly hit back, calling on government to retract its “blatantly false” comments, while the UNC called the government’s statement a “vicious attack”.
