One young advocate is calling out the Ministry of Youth Development for its planning of Youth Week, saying it discriminates against persons in central and south Trinidad.
Of the six events planned for this week, five will be held at NAPA in Port of Spain, and one at the Pleasantville Indoor Sporting Arena.
Maya Nanan, founder of the NGO Autism Siblings and Friends Network, says in addition to the events being heavily centred in north Trinidad, those at NAPA are largely set to run until 9pm.
She believes both the time and location make the events at NAPA even more inaccessible to young people from central and south.
Ms Nanan is calling on the Ministry to create equal access to its events, and equal opportunities for youths throughout the country.
In addition to founding Autism Siblings and Friends Network, Ms Nanan was named Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2023.
