Former government minister and MP, Marlene McDonald, is being remembered for her encouragement to young women and girls.
This comes from the Women Parliamentarians of T&T (WPTT) following Ms McDonald’s passing last Friday.
The group, led by President Bridgid Annisette-George, says one of her last addresses as a cabinet minister was in 2019 when, one International Girls in ICT Day, she encouraged women to ensure representation and participation of women in T&T’s development.
She also urged women to redefine how women-led ICT can impact how people live, work and play.
Meanwhile, WPTT Secretary and former MP, Ramona Ramdial, said Ms McDonald was always quick to lend advice to younger women in Parliament and will be missed by all who knew her.
Ms McDonald served as MP for Port-of-Spain South and held several ministerial portfolios over the course of her political career.
