The Women’s Prison was placed in lockdown for investigations into a missing key.

In a statement, the T&T Prisons Service said on February 3rd, a riot-gate key – which secures gates at the Northern Division – was found to be missing.

Acting Prisons Commissioner Carlos Corraspe described the situation as “worrying”, but assured that counter measures will ensure no gate at the Prison is compromised.

He adds that replacing the locks is a high priority.
