A 42-year-old woman was granted $45,000 bail as she appeared in court charged with embezzling over $84,000.

Nikesha Dhunda Tom of St Ann’s Village, Mayaro pleaded not guilty to the offence and was also ordered to report to her local police station biweekly,

The matter was also transferred to the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court and will next be heard on March 25th 2024.

On January 8th 2024, police received a report that discrepancies were detected at a financial agency housed at her establishment.

Following an extensive review of the agency’s fiscal transactions, investigators found that between October 1st 2023 and December 31st 2023, TT$84,625.80 was embezzled.
