Woman arrested following video showing abuse of two children

A woman has been arrested following a viral social media video allegedly depicting the physical assault and mistreatment of two young children.

Officers from the Special Victims Department and representatives from the Children’s Authority went to Hunt Road, San Juan, around 9pm yesterday, where they engaged with several individuals.

Acting on the information received, they were able to find the woman, and proceeded to conduct interviews with her and the affected children.

The children – ages 3 and 9 – were subsequently removed from the home, provided with medical attention and placed under the care of the Children’s Authority team.

The alleged offender was arrested and taken to the Barataria Police Station as investigations continue.

Head of the Special Victims Department, Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne says, “The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service extends gratitude to the public for their vigilance in reporting instances of child abuse. We know parenting can be stressful, however all acts of violence against children are unequivocally condemned, and individuals facing challenges in childcare and protection are urged to seek assistance promptly.”
