WI U19 squad named for Sri Lanka tour

15 young cricketers have been named in a West Indies Rising Stars U-19 squad for a tour of Sri Lanka starting later this month.

Dominica’s Stephan Pascal and Barbados’ Nathan Sealy have been named co-captains and will be joined by Jewel Andrew, Mavendra Dindyal, Joshua Dorne, Nathan Edward, Tarrique Edward, Reon Edwards, Deshawn James, Jordan Johnson, Devonie Joseph, Tamarie Redwood, Isai Thorne, Steve Wedderburn and Adrian Weir.

The youngsters start their tour with a 50-over warm-up on August 25th before three youth ODIs and two youth Tests from August 27th.

Lead Selector for the Rising Stars U-19s, Robert Haynes, says this tour is an integral part of preparations for the U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka in January and February 2024.

He believes players will get a first-hand look at conditions and get a chance to adapt to the climate.

In the previous U-19 World Cup in 2022, hosts West Indies finished 11th out of 15 teams.
