Ranveer Singh was considered first for the lead role in ‘Kabir Singh’.

However filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga said Ranveer turned it down because he felt it was “too dark for him at that time”.

It was then that Shahid Kapoor came on board and the rest is history.

‘Kabir Singh’ tells the story of a doctor who spirals into self-destruction when his girlfriend marries someone else.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film was a box office success, becoming the second highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019.

‘Kabir Singh’ is a remake of the Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’ which is also directed by Vanga.
