West Indies take 1-0 lead in England T20I series

West Indies have pulled off the highest successful T20I run-chase at Kensington Oval, getting to their target of 172 to win the opening game against England.

The five-match series began with West Indies winning the toss and sending England in to bat first.

England were bowled out for 171 in 19.3 overs, as Andre Russell, on his return to the T20I squad for the first time since 2021, led the way with figures of 3/19 in four overs.

Alzarri Joseph also took three wickets.

Then, West Indies, in reply, got to 172/6 in 18.1 overs, getting home despite an interruption in their chase due to rain.

Shai Hope top scored with 36 while Russell was again among the action with 29 not out in just 14 balls.

West Indies take a 1-0 to Grenada where the T20I series will continue with the second and third games at the National Cricket Stadium on Thursday and Saturday.

The series concludes with the final two games at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on December 19th and 21st.
