Carnival stalwart, Wendy Kalicharan, has passed away.

According to media reports, she died today at her home in San Fernando after a period of illness.

Mrs Kalicharan co-founded Kalicharan Mas with her husband, Ivan Kalicharan, in 1983.

Both are known for their decades-long contribution to Carnival in the southern city.

This year, Kalicharan Carnival earned its 31st title for Band of the Year, San Fernando.
