Ranbir Kapoor says his role in the upcoming movie ‘Animal’ reminded him of his late father, Rishi Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor passed away in 2020 after ailing for some time.

During a trailer launch event in New Delhi today, Ranbir remembered his father as he talked about how he went about getting into character.

He said, “Whenever I met Sandeep Reddy Vanga, I always told him to give me a reference. I have never heard or felt like this. I think eventually subconsciously, I thought of my father, the way he used to speak, he was a very passionate and aggressive man.”

The movie itself reflects their own experiences as father and son, with both previously stating that they were not best buddies when Ranbir was a child.

‘Animal’ also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol.

A central theme is the complex relationship between a father and son, with the son’s fervent admiration for his father ironically creating conflict between them.

The film is scheduled for release on December 1st 2023.
