WASA: water to return to Mayaro tomorrow

WASA has admitted to “challenges” in supplying pipe-borne water to parts of Mayaro, but says service to the area will be restored tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd August.

The Authority issued a statement this afternoon following a protest by residents in Ortoire Village who say they last received a supply on August 2nd.

WASA says it faced challenges in areas served by the Mayaro Water Treatment Plant, supplemented by water from the Navet Water Treatment Plant, via the San Pedro Booster.

It says recently, the rotational scheduled supply to parts of Mayaro was negatively impacted by pressure related issues off of the San Pedro Booster Station.

When the supply returns, it will be rotated as follows:

  • Mile End, Ortoire, Coconut Grove – 23 to 24 August
  • Cascadoux, Kernaham – 24 to 25 August
  • Rabita, Resthouse, Manzanilla, Plaisance – 25 to 26 August
  • Alexis, Panhandle, Solomon Street, Peter Hill – 26 to 27 August
  • St. Ann’s, Begorat – 27 to 29 August
  • Balata, Mafeking, Cedar Grove – 29 to 30 August

WASA says it increased its truck borne service to the area and has been providing a supplemental truck service, with particular focus on customers at elevated points or at the extremities of the distribution system, who were most affected.
