WASA says a fraudulent notice is being circulated to customers regarding overdue water bill payments.
The message, which purports to be from the Authority, tells persons that they need to settle an outstanding amount, and invites them to click on a link to do so.
WASA says this “malicious act” is clearly intended to deceive and exploit persons.
It says members of the public should treat this communication with extreme caution and to refrain from clicking on any embedded links or providing personal or financial information.
WASA also emphasizes that it engages with customers via:
- Official Notices: through formal letters, official emails (from verified WASA domains), and authorized SMS messages.
- Payment Channels: Legitimate WASA payments are made via its official website Customer Portal, Designated bank institutions, Western Union, Approved payment kiosks and any of its nine Customer Service Centres
- Customer Service: Queries can be directed to WASA’s Customer Contact Center, toll free, at 800-4420/4426 or through established social media platforms.
