WASA says areas of South Trinidad, in particular Penal and environs, were not left without a water supply in the build-up to the Divali holiday.

The water company made this statement yesterday in response to newspaper articles on Saturday.

WASA says, though some of the areas receive a supply on rotation every nine days, efforts were made to ensure the schedules are maintained as closely as possible.

It notes that water supply is rotated as there is a deficit in supply, high demand and undersized pipeline infrastructure.

WASA says several projects have been identified to address the challenges with the gap between supply and demand in these areas.
