WASA has responded to a public statement reportedly issued by an MP which invites persons to apply for short-term employment on a pipeline project.

WASA says the project in question is under the Community Water Improvement Programme which is proposed to be carried out by a contractor, but has not yet been awarded.

It adds that there is no provision under this or any other programme, for recruitment to be conducted under the purview of an MP’s office.

Instead, it says the awarded contractor will determine the allocation of local labour and arrangements for the project.
