WASA rejects claims made about Moruga wells

WASA is rejecting claims made regarding the quality of water from wells currently being developed in the Moruga/Tableland area.

In a statement, the Authority insists that it maintains the highest standards of water quality and public health safety in strict compliance with guidelines set by the World Health Organization, the Regulated Industries Commission, the Environmental Management Agency, and its own rigorous testing protocols.

It also assures that all raw water sources, including the Moruga wells, undergo comprehensive testing, with the results consistently reflecting water quality parameters that are in line with the geological characteristics of the respective areas.

According to WASA CEO Keithroy Halliday, lab reports have shown that water from the Moruga wells contain only naturally occurring elements consistent with the region’s geology.

He adds that to suggest otherwise is “a reckless misrepresentation of the facts.”
