WASA says it expects to restore service to San Francique by this coming weekend, September 2nd to 3rd.
This follows reports of a lengthy disruption in the water supply to residents in the area.
In a statement, the Authority said there have been “challenges” with maintaining a consistent supply to San Francique, which receives a supply from the Caroni Water Treatment Plant, via the South Oropouche Booster and Thicke Village Booster.
WASA says there are several landslip areas within the zone, which have been engaging the attention of the Works Ministry.
It says these landslips sometimes damage pipeline infrastructure, leading to disruptions, which has occurred several times over the last few months.
Some of the recent landslip related disruptions were: LP 174 Pluck Road & Santa Cecelia Trace, San Francique on June 5th & July 21st; LP152 and LP174 San Francique Road, San Francique on June 24th; LP 152 San Francique Road, San Francique on June 6th (several locations).
Apart from these, it says there were also disruptions stemming from the South Oropouche/ Thicke Village Boosters on July 2nd due to leak repair at Mosquito Creek; July 9th due to reduced production at Point Lisas Desal Plant; August 8th due to leak repair at Saltmine Trace; and August 25th – 27th due to emergency repairs at the Caroni Plant.
WASA says efforts continue to normalize the service to this and other areas following the recent disruption caused by the emergency repairs at the Caroni Plant.
