WASA has announced a Water Supply Improvement Project for Woodland and San Francique.
This initiative will involve the installation of two new transmission mains designed to increase transmission capacity and improve water delivery schedules for several communities.
It will be done in two phases – this will begin in January 2025 and is expected to be completed by April 2025.
- Phase 1: Installation of 4.5 kilometres of 400mm (16”) transmission pipeline from Corner M2 & Woodland, along Woodland, to Corner Tennant Trace & Woodland Road.
- Phase 2: Installation of 1.9 kilometres of 300mm (12”) transmission pipeline from the end of Phase 1, along Antilles Trace, to Corner San Francique & Antilles Trace.
WASA says the aim is to enhance water delivery schedules in Woodland and San Francique from the current 1/7, to a minimum of 24/3.
This project is also expected to alleviate pressure on the Thick Village Booster System and Penal Water Treatment Plant by redistributing some of the demand to the new pipelines.
According to the Authority, successful implementation of this project will see supply levels will improve from 1/9 to
a minimum of 24/1 in the first instance, with further enhancement to a minimum of 24/3 anticipated with the completion of the Los Bajos Wells #1 and #2, Waddle Well #1, and the construction of the Quarry plant.
