WASA addresses water supply issues at Jeffers Lane, St. James

WASA says it is working to address water supply issues at Jeffers Lane in St. James.

This morning, residents burned debris along the Western Main Road to highlight their dissatisfaction.

WASA says it is aware of the challenges faced by persons for approximately two weeks, adding that it has been “actively involved in working to correct the issue”.

According to the Authority, the problem is due to aged pipeline infrastructure that is restricting the flow and pressure to approximately 40 customers on the street.

It adds that the situation has been exacerbated by intermittent cutbacks in production at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant due to low river levels caused by drier than normal weather conditions.

So far, it says one valve has been replaced, while work to replace the pipeline is scheduled to begin today.
