Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman has been officially presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award.
This, as the winners for the 69th National Film Awards were formally celebrated today, October 17th 2023.
The awardees were previously named on August 24th 2023.
With a career spanning over five decades, Waheeda Rehman is regarded as one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema.
Speaking after collecting her award, she said, “I feel very honoured and humbled. I am here because of the industry. I have luckily been supported by top directors, actors, writers, dialogue writers, and musicians. Makeup artists, hair and costume designers helped and supported me throughout my career. I want to share the award with all the departments of the film industry that they have given me respect and love from the very onset of my career. No one person can make a film and everyone is needed for it.”
Among this year’s award winners are Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon (who jointly won the award in the Best Actress category), Shreya Ghoshal, M. M. Keeravani and Allu Arjun.
Presenting the winners with their awards was President Droupadi Murmu.
