Persons are being advised of a recall of Paracodeine Tablets.
According to the Health Ministry, this voluntary recall was issued by Cipla Limited for batch number KA23227, distributed in the Trinidad market.
It is the result of an observed “Out of Specification” result for the codeine content found during stability testing, conducted at the 12 month interval under standard conditions.
Testing results conducted by Cipla Limited showed the codeine level slightly below the specification limit.
The Ministry says it has been liaising directly with local distributors, who in turn have been in contact with the retail sector to ensure affected batches are removed from circulation.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Ministry advises persons who may be in possession of the identified batch of Paracodeine Tablets to discontinue use immediately and to return the product to the place of purchase where possible.
