UWI St Augustine is welcoming the appointment of Professor Prakash Persad as Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training.

Its Principal Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine adds that she is excited to support his vision for national development through tertiary education.

UWI says as a former lead at its Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Professor Persad has made significant contributions to regional education and research.

He also served as the President of UTT and played a pivotal role in advancing science and technology education.

Professor Belle Antoine believes his deep understanding of tertiary education, both as an award-winning scholar and policy leader, makes him exceptionally well-suited to guide the sector forward.
