UWI St Augustine’s Academy of Sport will commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Sir Frank Worrell with a lecture by leading cricket historian Vaneisa Baksh.
Titled “A Caribbean Hero – On and Off the Field,” it takes place this Saturday at the St. Augustine Campus and marks the inaugural SAAS Public Lecture Series.
The lecture will focus on the history of Worrell’s short life and his undeniable impact upon the Caribbean.
UWI says Ms Baksh will also debunk pervasive myths surrounding his legacy by reading excerpts from her acclaimed biography, “Sir Frank Worrell: Son of Grace.”
This was shortlisted for The Cricket Society and MCC Book of the Year Award as well as The Charles Tyrwhitt Cricket Book of the Year Award, which is held in partnership with the Sunday Times.
