Dr. Jerome Foster has been awarded the prestigious 2024 International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Grant.
The UWI researcher secured €10,000 to advance research in public and animal health.
His project, “Metagenomic Surveillance for Potential Viral Pathogens in Illegally Imported Wildlife and Livestock Species in Trinidad, West Indies,” aims to strengthen bio-security and public health measures and address critical challenges in safeguarding human and animal health.
NIHERST’s Acting President Ms. Julie David commended Dr. Foster’s achievement as a testament to the T&T’s immense talent in the scientific community. His research not only addresses critical biosecurity challenges but also highlights the global impact of local innovation.
